Theme - Growing in God

"But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained
to discern good and evil."  Hebrews 5:14

The church retreat begins on Friday evening, May 16, 2014, and ends with lunch on Sunday, May 18, 2014. The retreat is being held in Northern Lancaster County at Refreshing Mountain Camp in Stevens, PA. This is a drive of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. More information about their excellent facilities can be found at RefreshingMountain.com.

The retreat is for the entire church family. Childcare for younger children will be available during the meeting times.

If anyone lacks transportation, we will be coordinating rides with those who have space in their vehicles. Please note on the registration form if you will need to have a ride.

Registration for the retreat is required. The registration fee is in addition to the room and board charge. The registration fee and any scholarship donations are tax deductible. Please register early.

  Lodge Building 640

We expect to utilize all of the private rooms as well as a large portion of the bunkhouses and family cabins at the facility. The least expensive option is to stay in a bunkhouse with members of the same sex. Those staying in the bunkhouse should bring their own towels and linens.

The room and board charges include two nights lodging and five meals (three on Saturday and two on Sunday). There are reduced charges for children. Campsites and tent sites are also available.

Also available for an additional charge are family cabins and private lodge-style rooms. The family cabins require a minimum occupancy of four people and have two bedrooms, one with a double bed, and one with four bunk beds plus a futon. The private lodge-style rooms each have a double bed, a futon that can sleep one or two people, two bunk beds, and a private bath. Due to the limited space, all lodge rooms must have at least two adults.  These private rooms will be available on a first come, first served basis - you should not delay in making your reservation.

Refreshing Mountain offers an extensive canopy tour using a variety of zip lines and platforms on their high ropes course. There is an additional charge for this activity. If you are interested, please let us know so that we can make arrangements to book space since the course is in high demand on the weekends.

Please contact a member of the 2014 Retreat organizing team if you have any questions or would like to help with the retreat or contribute to the retreat scholarship fund.

WHO WILL BE THE SPEAKER AT THE RETREAT?

We are pleased to confirm our Retreat Speaker for May 16-18 is Dr. Rick Light of Bristol, Tennessee. He is the pastor of Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church in America where he has served since 1986. Since 1999, he has been the Executive Director of Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship. Rick has ministered effectively among us in the past and we are looking forward to having this gifted brother join us in May. The theme of the retreat will be "Growing in God". Please be praying for him as we prepare to seek the Lord together.

WHY NOT AT OUR BUILDING?

This is a special time of fellowship and worship. We are going away to seek the Lord. Much like a vacation away from home allows the vacationer to escape the things that may distract him at home, the retreat allows the members of the body to do the same.

WHY SO LONG (FRIDAY EVENING TO SUNDAY AFTERNOON)?

A day trip or a single overnight retreat is often unduly occupied with packing and unpacking. By having a minimum of two nights, the participants have sufficient time for prayer, fellowship, and serious discussion without the diversion of travel logistics.

WILL THERE BE SUNDAY SERVICES IN UPPER DARBY?

Sunday services in Upper Darby will be held at 6:00 p.m. There will be no Sunday morning services in Upper Darby since the morning service will be held in Stevens.

If you cannot come for the entire weekend and need transportation, Crossroads will be providing a bus (or vans) to travel to Stevens on Sunday morning. The bus/van will leave the church at 9:00 a.m., so please be here no later than 8:45 a.m. To ride, you must have a ticket. Tickets will be free, but for those who are able, we are encouraging a donation of $10 per person to cover the church's cost of renting vehicles, tolls and gas.

As a church family we will be having lunch together in Stevens on Sunday afternoon. Although you can bring a bag lunch, we are encouraging everyone to use the opportunity to enjoy the food being offered at Refreshing Mountain. If you are not attending the entire retreat, the cost of Sunday lunch is $12 per person.

To make transportation and meal arrangements and to make sure that everyone is aware of our plans for the retreat weekend, we are asking everyone to indicate their plans on one of the sign-up sheets being circulated on Sunday morning. If you did not sign the sheet on April 13, please do so before April 27. If you have any questions or concerns, see Lou Ford, Dudley Reese or Shibu Oommen.
